Through a partnership with Unisul - Unisul - Universidade do Sul de Santa Catarina, Itagres is a sponsor of SEDECOM - Program of Social Education of Community Development, that currently has twelve distinct programs, which are:

- The 3Rs project - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
- Spokesperson project
- Soap Solidarity
- Sport in Action
- Music Workshop
- Adult Education
- Digital Citizen
- Healthy Sex
- Recycling Jeans
- Healthy Eating
- Learning Workshop

Aimed at helping children in risky situations, increasing family income and gaining skills for the work market, these projects are run in partnership with university courses - having university students as responsible to conduct the courses in 6 communities in the region, and reaching 500 low-income families.
